I am an Endodontist so why do I want to talk about Implantology?

Abstract

Endodontics is a very important field in dentistry.  It has an excellent long-term success rate but unfortunately not all teeth can be successfully treated with endodontics.  There are lot of clinical situations where endodontic treatment is possible but not always the best route to take.  In these cases implantology is a valid alternative and in many cases can achieve better results both functionally and aesthetically.

As a trained endodontist I regularly see situations where I have to choose between these two treatments.  Sometimes the choice is not easy.  Even a very good endo-specialist cannot successfully treat every case and it is therefore practical that they are also familiar with implantology, in order to follow that route.
