The company has completed an integrated certification structure spanning the entire dental treatment process.

The latest addition completes the company’s certification coverage in the digital diagnostic field. MegaGen announced that its cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) system, R2 Studio Q, has recently obtained MDR certification. Combining CT, panoramic and cephalometric imaging functions in a single device, R2 Studio Q plays a key role in diagnosis and treatment planning prior to implant procedures. Integrated with MegaGen’s digital solutions, the system enables a seamless digital workflow from diagnosis through treatment.

Prior to R2 Studio Q, MegaGen had also obtained MDR certification for the R2i5 intraoral scanner, the R2photogram digital prosthetic data acquisition system, and maxillofacial solutions. With the latest certification, MegaGen has completed its certification framework covering the entire digital workflow, from diagnosis and data acquisition to treatment planning and clinical procedures.

A notable aspect of this achievement is that the certification has not been accomplished overnight. Since becoming the first Korean dental implant company to obtain CE MDR certification in 2022, MegaGen has progressively expanded the scope of its certifications from implant systems to clinical equipment and digital devices.

In December 2025, MegaGen completed MDR certification for its implant systems, including ARi and BD Cuff, solutions for challenging anterior and posterior cases, as well as AXA, an abutment solution specialized for Full-Mouth treatment. The company subsequently obtained certification for its dental treatment chair, N2 Chair, establishing a six-product-category certification framework covering implant fixtures, prosthetics, surgical kits and the clinical environment.

With the addition of the R2 Studio Q certification, MegaGen has become one of the few companies to have obtained certification under European regulatory standards across the three key areas of dental treatment: implant treatment, the clinical environment and digital diagnosis. This goes beyond certification of individual devices, signifying that an integrated solution connecting diagnosis and treatment has been formally recognized for its compliance with European regulatory standards.

MegaGen attributes this achievement to a long-term roadmap established at an early stage. To proactively respond to the MDR requirements, which are considered difficult to address within a short period due to their high regulatory barriers, the company has continuously advanced its clinical evaluation system, reorganized its technical documentation structure, and strengthened its post-market surveillance (PMS) and post-market clinical follow-up (PMCF) strategies. Through these efforts, MegaGen has also established a system capable of responding flexibly to future product changes and the addition of new products.

A strategy that goes beyond the limitations of GBR

Alveolar bone resorption, resulting in ridge deficiency, is one of the main factors that complicates implant placement. As a solution, MegaGen proposes the “ARi Solution,” which utilizes the concept of engaging the non-resorbing basal bone. Since basal bone remains stable over time, it allows for reliable implant placement regardless of the condition of the resorbed alveolar ridge.
